Finding the best available evidence

This stage focuses on reviewing and evaluating research to assess its quality, relevance, and applicability to your setting. Using strong evidence ensures decisions are defensible and improvements are sustainable.

At this stage, you will locate, appraise, and apply the best available evidence to support a change.

Evidence to Support Change

An introduction to critical appraisal

Critical appraisal helps you determine whether research is trustworthy, relevant, and useful for practice. It enables health professionals to apply evidence with confidence and avoid unreliable sources.

If you need support, connect with your local librarian, research fellow, or an experienced colleague for advice on search strategies or appraisal tools.

Rapid Review of Evidence: How to conduct a targeted review of the evidence or literature.

Build a Plan for Change

Ready to apply the evidence you have found? Use the Evidence to Support Change tool to build a stronger rationale for your project.
